I strongly believe in the philosophy of keeping business local. It’s something that I have always strived to do at Sealevel. Although we have 50 employees in-house, our team reaches far beyond the walls of our facility. From assembly to fabrication to distribution, we rely on outside sources – many of whom live and work in the state of South Carolina. By keeping business local, we not only improve the economies and quality of life within our communities, we also have the opportunity to engage in face-to-face meetings, control business costs and develop stronger partnerships in our own backyards.

At Sealevel. the term “quality” is a recurring theme throughout our entire company profile. From quality products, to quality people, to quality customer service, we strive to create an exceptional customer experience in which all aspects are treated with the same level of importance. By using quality, USA manufactured parts and components, we count on our products themselves to reduce the number of returns and failures, thus lessening the frequency of customer service concerns.
Just a month ago, I supported a customer who needed some assistance troubleshooting his marine navigation application on his boat. After discovering we had both served in the Navy, he began to tell me about his experiences. I became more curious of who this customer was as the day went on, and so I googled him. I found articles immediately; I had no idea that I had been talking to an aviation celebrity.
So World Cup fever is sweeping across the world, well everywhere apart from the United States. Being an avid football fan, I must admit I miss the greatest sport on earth over here in South Carolina. Sometimes I get to catch the odd game on ESPN on a Saturday morning; however, this is no substitute for beers, Balti pies and the roar of the crowd on a Saturday afternoon.
Sealevel will be heading back to the West Coast at the end of April for ESC 2010, the industry’s leading embedded systems event. This year Sealevel will be showcasing our RISC-based R9 product family that boasts RISC computing power, unmatched I/O, and a wide temperature range. We will also have a wide variety of our other products for you to check out. Stop by Booth 734 to talk with me or Brian Edens, our national sales manager, about how Sealevel can help you customize these application-ready products. The event runs from April 26-29 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
I’m pleased to have my feet back on the ground after interesting trips to Israel and Germany. We had some great successes in both countries, managing to forge new relationships across borders, which is a focus for Sealevel going forward. As an earlier blog from Earle Foster discusses, the best business is done when personal interaction is involved.
Traveling may be expensive and inconvenient, but a WebEx cannot replace meeting a customer in person. There is a real difference in doing business with someone you know and have spent time with, perhaps even sharing a meal. We are committed to this concept at Sealevel. In fact, we traveled just as much in 2009 as the year before and plan to continue our travel schedule this year.
