Sealevel proudly sponsored Euphoria’s kickoff event, 2011 Songwriter’s Recipe: Songs and Stories from Euphoria Unplugged, at the Warehouse Theater. This year’s event featured three singer/songwriters: Will Hoge, Maia Sharp, and Edwin McCain. The performers introduced each song with some background behind the song or a relevant anecdote.

I often get asked why we have associated our business with rock and roller, environmentalist, and great guy, Chuck Leavell. You have to understand the culture here to see the connection. I think the creative boost works. Sealevel employs and retains extremely bright and creative people in all disciplines. We work, eat, party, care for, attend games, and do lots of community service as a company.
Whether you’re a Clemson Tiger or a USC Gamecock or anything in between, it only requires a few minutes in the presence of Coach Dabo Swinney to understand that his goals at Clemson extend much further than those achievable on the playing field inside Death Valley. Dabo’s vision at Clemson is one that has been mirrored by the O’Hanlan family here at Sealevel for the last 25 years. We have continuously contributed to the betterment our community through charitable giving programs designed to assist those in need. One of the most recent programs to receive local support from Sealevel and Clemson University is The Family Effect. In fact, both Dabo Swinney and the Sealevel president, Ben O’Hanlan, now serve on the board of directors for the non-profit organization.
This week we will be working with a local church to collect items for the men and women serving in the military. If you are in the Liberty area and would like to contribute, the following items can be dropped off at Sealevel anytime before noon on Friday, June 10. If you’re not in the area, we encourage you to start your own drive to show your appreciation for those serving our country.
Random acts of kindness come in all shapes and sizes. February 14-20 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. If you think about your workplace, I am sure you can come up with a variety of things you could do make life a little more enjoyable for the people around you. The possibilities are endless, and many times the cheapest acts have the largest impact. There is potential for a tremendous domino effect around a random act of kindness.
Sealevel will be closed in celebration of Thanksgiving, November 25-26, as we give thanks for all of the blessings in our lives. We are grateful for our colleagues and customers. We appreciate time spent with friends and family. But what does the Sealevel family have planned for a long, Thanksgiving weekend?
I had the privilege of being promoted to Corporal on the top of Mt. Suribachi, where Joe Rosenthal took one of the most famous war pictures of the flag being raised. I left my corporal rank chevron and one of my most prized possessions, my original dog tag from boot camp, on top of the mountain as a sign of respect for the fallen. I appreciate the ultimate sacrifice that all veterans and the families of veterans have made to ensure the freedoms that we have will not be taken away. Thank you for everything.
