Sealevel will be closed in celebration of Thanksgiving, November 25-26, as we give thanks for all of the blessings in our lives. We are grateful for our colleagues and customers. We appreciate time spent with friends and family. But what does the Sealevel family have planned for a long, Thanksgiving weekend?

I had the privilege of being promoted to Corporal on the top of Mt. Suribachi, where Joe Rosenthal took one of the most famous war pictures of the flag being raised. I left my corporal rank chevron and one of my most prized possessions, my original dog tag from boot camp, on top of the mountain as a sign of respect for the fallen. I appreciate the ultimate sacrifice that all veterans and the families of veterans have made to ensure the freedoms that we have will not be taken away. Thank you for everything.
Greenville County Museum of Art Celebrates the 25th Anniversary Antiques Show
Good things are always happening at the Greenville County Museum of Art. From one of the world’s greatest artists and South Carolina native, Jasper John’s paintings and prints to Andrew Wyeth’s masterful watercolors, Upstate South Carolina can be proud of such a well-balanced and informed American art collection.
My experience is normally when a group congregates, it’s to protest about something or make themselves heard for a cause, which only really affects them. This gathering was for the greater good of Greenville and the surrounding areas – for businesses, for schools and universities, and for individuals; not only so we can download the latest films within a few seconds or transfer large files more easily, but to show the world that Greenville is a progressive, modern and cosmopolitan city that ought to be considered as such.
We want Google Fiber for Communities to launch their trial run in the Upstate. So, this weekend the city of Greenville is hosting Google on Main, the world’s first and longest people-powered Google chain. Local businesses and individuals are sponsoring the event, and even more are coming downtown for the community-wide event which will take place at Falls Park starting at 7:00 p.m.

This year Sealevel is partnering with our local FIRST robotics team as they prepare for competitions. The students come from four area high schools: D.W. Daniel High, Easley High, Liberty High, and Pickens High. As team mentors, Sealevel has provided the students with full access to our engineering and marketing departments. From solving engineering problems to developing a website and promotional materials, the students maintain control over every aspect of their robotics system and team brand. Watching the students build their robot and plan their competition strategy has been a truly unique experience for everyone involved.
Join me at the Bridesmaid’s Ball fundraiser for the Upstate Homeless Coalition of South Carolina, February 27, 2010, 7-11pm, Greenville Marriott.
This year’s Ball features Kim and Joe Wehunt as the bride and groom, and local television personality Michael Cogdill as emcee. You can compete in the Bridesmaid’s Dress from Hell contest and enjoy great food, great music, and great people all joined for a great cause — helping homeless people build new lives. First and foremost, people need food, shelter, and love.
