Greenville Wants Google

If you’re downtown Greenville this weekend, you might wonder why there are hundreds of people wielding glow sticks and helicopters flying overhead.

Don’t panic – we’re just trying to entice Google to bring Google Fiber to Greenville.

According to Google, “Our networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today, over 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We’ll offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.”

We want Google Fiber for Communities to launch their trial run in the Upstate. So, this weekend the city of Greenville is hosting Google on Main, the world’s first and longest people-powered Google chain. Local businesses and individuals are sponsoring the event, and even more are coming downtown for the community-wide event which will take place at Falls Park starting at 7:00 p.m. on March 20.

Click here to see how you can get involved. And remember, if you’re tweeting about the Google on Main event, please use hashtag #GoogleOnMain.
