Tech Lowdown
Optimize the SBC-R9 with Windows CE 6.0
Get your OEM system design to market faster with the SBC-R9 using Windows Embedded CE 6.0. This latest release of Windows CE offers performance,
security, and other improvements over its predecessors. CE 6.0 supports 32k
simultaneous processes with up to 2GB of virtual memory per process compared
with CE 5.0, which is limited to 32 processes and 32MB virtual memory per process. Performance has been improved by moving system processes, such as the Graphics,
Windowing and Events Subsystem (GWES); file system manager (filesys.exe); and
device driver manager (device.exe) to the kernel.
To simplify application development for the SBC-R9, Sealevel includes the
Windows CE 6.0 BSP binary and low-level drivers for system I/O. Additionally,
the software package is equipped with the Sealevel Talos I/O framework, which
offers a high-level object-oriented .NET Compact Framework (CF) device interface.
These features make the SBC-R9 the ideal application-ready platform for your
next embedded product design.
