| Introducing
New eI/O Family Modules
Last
month we introduced the eI/O architecture along with the first
three eI/O modules. This month Sealevel announces four additional
eI/O modules along with a Starter Kit to accelerate application
development. These modules attach to the M200 baseboard and are
controlled using digital I/O (e.g. Sealevel’s 8010 PCI card
or 8203 USB to digital module) via a standard 50-pin ribbon cable
connector. eI/O modules offer a cost-effective, modular alternative
for I/O interface. For ease of implementation, Sealevel includes
our SeaI/O drivers, utilities, and programming samples for Windows
98/ME/NT/2000/XP and Linux to aid in the development of reliable
applications for eI/O Family products. We also include an OPC
(or OLE for Process Control) driver which makes possible interoperability
between automation and control applications, field
systems, and business/office applications.
251
Opto-isolated Output Module, Sourcing
The M251 is an optically-isolated emitter-follower output module
designed to control up to 24VDC devices. 500VDC isolation protects
electronics from over-voltage damage. Connection to field wiring
is accomplished via a 10-pin removable terminal block. Output
state of each bit is displayed via on-board LEDs. Requires power
supplied to field terminal block from external supply such as
the optional PS101.

M270 Form C Relay Module, 2A
The M270 supplies 8 SPDT (Form C) dry contact relays that can
be wired for normally-open or normally-closed operation at up
to 2 amps. Field wiring is connected via two 12-pin removable
terminal blocks. On-board LEDs indicate status of each relay (open/closed).

M271 Form C Relay Module, 8A
The M271 supplies 8 SPDT (Form C) dry contact relays that can
be wired for normally-open or normally-closed operation at up
to 8 amps. Field wiring is connected via two 12-pin removable
terminal blocks. On-board LEDs indicate status of each relay (open/closed).

M280
Quad SSR Relay Module
The M280 module allows easy interface to one or two industry standard
quad solid state relays (QSSR). The module can be configured as
8 inputs or 8 outputs and will accept AC and DC QSSRs. Input modules
have built-in filtering to provide clean signals to the control
system, and include transient protection circuitry. Field wiring
connection is made via two 6-pin removable terminal blocks. Each
I/O channel is protected by a 5A fuse which is socketed for easy
replacement.

Sealevel
Application Notebook
Controlling Opto 22 Optomux Devices From a PCI Card
Opto 22 Optomux devices are still widely used in a variety of industrial
control and monitoring applications. Opto 22 manufactures two ISA
bus boards designed to provide the RS-422 signal for Optomux devices.
These boards, the AC24AT and the AC422AT use a proprietary pinout
on the serial connector. As an alternative for users without an
ISA slot available, Sealevel manufactures a PCI board, the 7105-DB9,
designed to directly interface with Optomux devices using this same
pinout. We also manufacture two adapters to convert the pinout of
any Sealevel RS-422 boards that use DB9 or DB25 connectors, the
DB103
and DB104.
These devices, combined with Sealevel's SeaCOM software drivers
and utilities, are recommended by Sealevel for those users who wish
to connect to their Optomux network via a PCI bus card, and each
will allow the reuse of existing Optomux cabling.
