Focus On Synchronous Communications

Critical military, aerospace, and commercial applications often use synchronous communication when high-speed data transfer is required. Unlike asynchronous communication which frames each character, synchronous protocols only use one control set to frame a frequently large block of data, resulting in increased throughput. All Sealevel synchronous serial products are engineered with strict attention to timing and other important considerations to achieve the most reliable, high-speed communication possible.

Choose from a variety of RS-232 and RS-232/422/485 multi-interface products that support HDLC/SDLC protocol using our SeaMAC V4 device driver. SeaMAC V4 also supports certain configurations of monosync, bisync, and raw modes. Optional cables are available to easily connect RS-449, RS-530, RS-530A, V.35, and X.21 interfaces. And, like all Sealevel products, our synchronous cards are backed by the best, most knowledgeable customer support available!

New! Multi-Interface Four-Port Synchronous PCI Board

Text Box:  Sealevel has introduced the ACB-MP+4.PCI (Item # 5402), a four-port PCI bus RS-232/422/485 synchronous serial interface. Designed using the popular Zilog Z85230 Enhanced Serial Communication Controller (ESCC), the board is an ideal solution for applications that require multiple channels of robust synchronous communications.

For maximum flexibility, each of the ACB-MP+4.PCI’s serial ports can be individually configured for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 communications. In RS-232 mode, all common modem control signals are implemented for compatibility with a wide range of peripherals. A digital phase lock loop (DPLL) is included on each port, and the board supports data rates up to 128K bps in burst mode. For easy implementation, a fan-out cable is included that terminates the onboard 120-pin high-density Molex connector to four DB-25M connectors. Terminal blocks, adapter cables, and other helpful accessories are available to facilitate rapid installation.

The ACB-MP+4.PCI features universal bus (3.3V and 5V) compatibility with both new and legacy computer systems. Software support, critical for successful synchronous communication development, is provided through Sealevel’s SeaMAC V4 driver.

Low Profile PCI Using Z16C32 IUSC

The ACB-Ultra.LPCI (Item # 5104) is a low profile PCI board offering universal bus (3.3V and 5V) compatibility and very fast data rates.  The board is designed around the Z16C32 Integrated Universal Serial Controller (IUSC) with built-in DMA controller and 32-byte FIFO. The interface is configurable for RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, RS-530, RS-530A, or V.35, and can achieve data rates to 10M bps (burst mode).

PCMCIA Card Adds Sync to Portables

Add synchronous communication capability to your laptop, PDA or other PCMCIA equipped computer with the PC-ACB-MP card (Item # 3612). The card utilizes the Zilog Z85233 ESCC and is rated for up to 64K bps communications. The included 12" cable terminates to a DB-25M connector and is detachable for convenience. Accessories are available including cables, terminal blocks, and a metal strain relief bracket (Item# BK-SR2) that helps prevent damage to the card and connector.

PC/104-Plus for Rugged Synchronous Applications

The ACB-104.ULTRA (Item # 3514) PC/104-Plus serial interface provides one synchronous serial port configurable for RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, RS-530, RS-530A, or V.35. The 3514 utilizes the Z16C32 IUSC and is capable of data rates to 10M bps in burst mode. For maximum compatibility with a variety of host processors, the board can operate from either 3.3V or 5V power.
