The CA213 is a 10' null modem cable with DB9 female connectors on both ends. Null modem cables cross pins 2 and 3 (Tx and Rx) and loop back handshaking signals (RTS to CTS and DTR to DSR) to allow two computers, with DB9 serial ports, to communicate.
• DB9 female connectors at each end
• Pin 2 (Rx) is crossed to pin 3 (Tx) at each end
• Pin 1 (DCD) is looped back to pin 4 (DTR) and pin 6 (DSR)
• Pin 7 (RTS) is looped back to pin 8 (CTS) and pin 9 (RI)
• Pin 5 (Ground) is passed straight through
• Pin 2 (Rx) is crossed to pin 3 (Tx) at each end
• Pin 1 (DCD) is looped back to pin 4 (DTR) and pin 6 (DSR)
• Pin 7 (RTS) is looped back to pin 8 (CTS) and pin 9 (RI)
• Pin 5 (Ground) is passed straight through
