STEM Night at Crosswell Elementary

March 28, 2014

The local businesses of Pickens County, led by MCPC, are continuing to work with local schools to educate the employees, students, and their families on the opportunities in this county and how to best prepare the students for a brighter future. Recently, all of the guidance counselors in Pickens County schools toured a number of local businesses, including Sealevel. Their next goal was to take the information they learned through these visits and pass it on to their students and families.

STEM Night, which was held at Crosswell Elementary School, focused on the four main categories of learning:  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Crosswell Elementary counselor, Kelley Ponder, invited the local businesses to set up booths at the school in order to create an interactive and fun environment. The students and their parents were sent on a scavenger hunt to answer questions about each business and the qualities they are looking for in potential employees.

Representing Sealevel for STEM night was our VP of Marketing, Earle Foster, and CEO, Tom O’Hanlan. Meeting face-to-face with the families that help this county thrive was a great experience. Tom and MCPC have been very active in trying to improve the economic development climate and attractiveness of Pickens County. There is no better place to start than with the next generation and their families.

Thank you Crosswell Elementary for a great night!
