Answer to the problem We were using the 2402 Serial Hub and were having to replace it several times a year, due to lightning strikes on a cell phone tower close to our facility. When I contacted Sea Level for an RMA to repair a damaged unit, they noticed that we were a frequent customer for their service department. They asked me several questions to try to figure out why we were experiencing such trouble. This alone speaks volumes for this company - they stand behind their product and did not like to see problems with their units. When I explained the circumstances and how the unit was being used, they recommended the 2213, an optically isolated unit that is more resistant to problems like the ones we were having. Initially, I was reluctant, thinking that Sea Level was just trying to "upsell" me on a product that I really didn't need. We installed the 2213 over a year ago and have not had a single problem with it. Installation was seamless and the reliability has been impeccable.
