Description

The 4201 Ethernet to serial server is the easiest way to connect RS-232 serial devices to your Ethernet network. Each RS-232 port implements all modem control signals for maximum compatibility with a wide range of peripherals. SeaLINK® products use industry-standard RFC 2217 TCP/IP protocol for maximizing compatibility with the widest range of applications and devices.

Sealevel’s SeaLINK software drivers and utilities make installation and operation easy using Microsoft Windows operating systems. After software installation, the 4201’s serial ports appear as virtual COM ports to the host machine. Standard serial operating calls are transparently redirected to the 4201, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward compatibility with existing software. Serial tunneling is also supported, allowing two native serial devices to communicate over a network. Alternatively, raw data socket mode is supported, eliminating the need for a driver.

The 4201 is compatible for use with Linux; please contact Sealevel Tech Support for suggested open-source software resources.

To simplify installation and configuration, a printed copy of the SeaLINK QuickStart Guide is included with all Ethernet serial server orders.

    Rock solid Device!
I am the IT Manager for a Waste and Recycling company In the North East. I have been using this 4201 Serial Server for about eight Years Connected to two different Truck Scale Heads, these scales are basically our cash registers we charge by weight and then process the material and sell the commodities we have separated out, so everything needs to be weighed and pass over these scales. This 4201 does a constant output to a windows server that waits to see motion from the scale then looks for the motion to stop and then reads the weight. The scale data is sent from the scale head about twice a second from each scale head to its one port. So as you can see it is very important that they stay up and running and in the eight years they have been running we have had no problems with 4201. It has never lost communications with the Windows Server I have it communicating with in all this time. I have even replaced both scale heads and scales updating them both to Digital and the 4201 just keeps working.
