COM Express video capabilities vary from module to module, so it is important to select the proper module that meets your application requirements.

The PICMG COM Express specification defines several graphics standards that give manufacturers flexibility in supporting a wide range of video interfaces and formats. An analog VGA interface and television output (composite video, S-video, and component video) signals are defined for all COM Express module types, except Type 10. The specification also defines a single or dual-channel LVDS interface for all modules that is capable of driving an LCD flat panel display.

Type 2, 3, 4 and 5 modules can support high-end graphics capabilities with up to 16 lanes via the PCI Express Graphics (PEG) interface. Additionally, Type 6 and 10 modules can support a Digital Display Interface (DDI) that can be configured for modern display interfaces like DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort.

Sealevel can help you select a COM Express module that meets the requirements of your application, including video capabilities, while we design and build a custom carrier board that integrates the I/O and connectors. Call us to discuss your application.
