IoT: The Four Stages of Data Collection & Conversion

What keeps data collection and conversion flowing along the IoT highway? Data typically moves through four stages: sensors and actuators, gateways and data acquisition systems, edge IT systems, and finally, the data center and cloud. In some cases, a fifth stage for a human interface system, such as an app or software, rounds out the journey.
