5104 LP PCI RS-232; 422; 485; 530; 530A; V.35

Product Details

The 5104 Low Profile PCI serial interface provides one synchronous serial port configurable for RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, RS-530, RS-530A, or V.35. The board is capable of data rates to 10M bps. The 5104 utilizes a Z16C32 Integrated Universal Serial Controller (IUSC) with built-in DMA controller and 32-byte FIFO buffer. The board is MD1 Low Profile and Universal Bus (3.3V and 5V) compatible.

The 5104 is compatible with any low profile PCI slot. A standard profile bracket is also included.

Software support, critical for successful synchronous communication development, is provided through Sealevel’s SeaMAC synchronous serial driver. HDLC/SDLC protocols are supported as well as certain configurations of Monosync, Bi-sync and Raw modes.

  • Great Hardware, Limited Protocol Support due to Windows Driver The 5104-16 (for 16 MHz oscillator as it normally comes with a 20 MHz oscillator) is a very versatile card from the hardware perspective

Great Hardware, Limited Protocol Support due to Windows Driver The 5104-16 (for 16 MHz oscillator as it normally comes with a 20 MHz oscillator) is a very versatile card from the hardware perspective. It will handle virtually any RS-422 protocol. However, the software drivers provided only support the most used protocols, so if you need one of the lesser used protocols, you will have to write your own windows driver to support it.

  • Sealevel Systems 5104, PCI Bus High Speed SDLC Support

Sealevel Systems 5104, PCI Bus High Speed SDLC Support. My company has now been using the Sealevel Systems 5104 card for high speed SDLC datalinks in simulation systems for developing and testing some shipboard systems. As the only vendor still supporting this protocol on the PCI bus at speeds > 1MBPS, they have been a KEY asset. To date, we have purchased ~150 cards. They have been instrumental in resolving computer system issues [Not Sealevel issues], that were not anticipated/understood at our end, and have been quick to repair the 3 cards that had hardware issues out of the box over time. We have two cards that have been in service since 1996 [Win NT 4.0], 40 that have been in service for 3 years now [Win XPro], and just bought another 100 for a new project[Win XP now, migrating to Windows 7 32-bit]. They worked with us to develop and beta test a Windows 7 64-bit driver...that is now available to all.

Satellite Telemetry Processing Having the requirement to generate and process high rate telemetry for a custom application we turned to SeaLevel for the 5104. The card has worked flawlessly in our implementation. Our software team found the API to be very user friendly and the technical support from SeaLevel is outstanding.
