Tactical Communications

Communication on the battlefield is vital to the success of any military operation and the safety of today’s warfighters. Over the past 35 years, Sealevel has developed and manufactured serial communications, digital I/O, and rugged computing products that are trusted by every major U.S. and Allied nations military contractors.

COTS and Full Custom Military Solutions

The modern battlefield demands ruggedized equipment that deliver a combat advantage. Sealevel computing and communications solutions are proven effective even in the harshest environments. Choose from an array of COTS products or partner with us to create a custom solution ideally suited to your application.
Tactical communications applications often require custom adaptations of COTS products and, for over 35 years, Sealevel has exceeded our defense customers’ expectations. We have consistently provided innovative hardware and software products enabling computer connectivity and control to every major US and Allied military contractor including Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, BAE, Boeing, L3Harris, General Dynamics, NAVWAR, NAVAIR, and SOCOM.

COTS Synchronous Serial Solutions

Sealevel synchronous serial adapters are trusted and used in military, aerospace and commercial applications where reliable, high-speed communications are required. Choose from a variety of RS-232 or RS-232/422/485 multi-interface options using the industry-standard Zilog Z85230 ESCC or the powerful Zilog Z16C32 IUSC.

Tactical Data Communications

The ACC-188 synchronous serial radio adapter is interoperable among various tactical radio brands and models used by the defense community.
The ACC-188 works with any radio that has a synchronous serial communication port using MIL-STD-188-184 and enables the tactical radios to send data such as GPS maps, images, coordinates, and IM-type communications.

MIL-STD 1553

Sealevel offers an alternative for implementing MIL-STD-1553 using software IP cores integrated into FPGA devices.
IP cores can provide substantial advantages over standard 1553 ICs including reduced cost, easy ability to upgrade, small footprint saves board space, easy evaluation, and it supports long product life cycle.

Serial Communications for Ground Control

The U.S. Navy’s arsenal includes a jet-powered, long-range cruise missile that receives real-time, in-flight guidance via SATCOM. This communication enables the missile to dynamically track and engage targets. This capability is extremely valuable as it can take some time for the missile to reach a designated target.

PCIe Mini Card Synchronous Serial Interface

Connecting modern computer equipment to proprietary, often old, infrastructure is a common requirement in military applications. Sealevel worked with a manufacturer of a rugged, military computer server to design an interface to radio modems installed in aircraft. The radio modems use a proprietary, synchronous protocol as the host interface with little documentation available and no opportunity for modification.

Sealevel Expertise

With more than 35 years of experience and over 350 standard products for military, government, and commercial customers, Sealevel’s in-house team has direct experience with designing and manufacturing hardware, and software, to support military and aerospace test and measurement applications.

Serial I/O

All Sealevel synchronous serial products are engineered with strict attention to timing to achieve the most reliable, high-speed communication possible. Choose from a variety of RS-232/422/485 multi-interface products that support HDLC/SDLC and other protocols.

Digital & Analog I/O

Monitor and control real-world signals with any computer using Sealevel digital and analog I/O products. Select from field-proven optically isolated in puts, Reed and Form C relay outputs, TTL interfaces to solid-state relays, A/D and D/A functionality. Our digital and analog I/O products come in a wide variety of host connections: host via wireless, Ethernet, USB, RS-485 or RS-232.

Embedded Computing

Built for harsh, mission critical environments, our Computer on Module (COM) based systems provide the benefits of a full custom design while reducing time, costs and risk. Our rugged systems require no fans or other rotating parts. Your OS and application software run from solid-state disk, eliminating rotating hard drives and resulting in true solid-state operation. Our products are designed to meet many commercial and military standards for rugged computing.

MIL-STD-1553

Sealevel’s MIL-STD-1553 board-level products, IP cores and custom computer designs are specifically engineered for military, avionic and aerospace applications. By using software IP cores integrated into FPGA devices, we are able to offer substantial advantages over standards 1553 ICs including reduced cost, easy upgrade ability, small footprint, easy evaluation, and a long product life cycle.
