Reliable I/O for Car Wash Automation
Overview
The leading, single-source technology provider of car wash equipment nationwide consistently relies on Sealevel’s digital I/O solutions for process automation and control. They selected Sealevel to specify the USB adapter used in all automatic car washes. In addition to the need for high reliability in a cost-effective solution, ease of field installation was identified as a prerequisite – for both programming and physical device installation.
The relay outputs activate solenoids and motors used to spray water, dispense soap, initialize the brushes, and complete other processes.
The Solution
Sealevel’s applications engineers recommended the 8112 USB Digital I/O Adapter. The 8112 connects to a host computer via USB and provides 4 optically isolated inputs and 4 Form C relay outputs.
The optically isolated inputs are used to monitor position indicator sensors to signal the location of the car in the wash bay. The relay outputs activate solenoids and motors used to spray water, dispense soap, initialize the brushes, and complete other processes.
With the SeaMAX software driver, installation and operation can be accomplished quickly and easily. The 8112’s removable screw terminal connectors allow for simple, direct wiring.
