Sealevel partners with a transportation company that specializes in designing and maintaining toll and traffic management systems. Their innovative products and services support various transportation-focused agencies around the world.
When a statewide infrastructure commission extended an existing contract with the company to continue providing toll collection systems and services, they designated Sealevel for reliable connectivity hardware.
The Sealevel Solution
The customer shared the basic connectivity requirements for their automatic toll readers that support the overall toll collection system.
In response to their needs, Sealevel recommended our HUB7i Optically Isolated 7-Port USB Hub and our SeaLINK® 2105R USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Interface Adapter. Both devices are connected to the reader that inspects vehicles for a toll pass as vehicles pass through.
Sealevel’s HUB7i is an optically isolated USB hubs that connects up to seven USB peripherals and protects the host computer from voltages up to 4000 VAC. The isolation helps protect against voltage spikes, power surges and ground loops. Status LEDs indicate external power, connectivity and fault conditions.
The SeaLINK® 2105R single-port USB to RS-232 DB9 serial adapter incorporates a ruggedized, over-molded enclosure. This feature improves reliability and durability for industrial and mobile applications such as the toll reader mentioned here as well as GPS navigation systems, barcode readers and serial printers. The 2105R is compatible with all standard PC baud rates and supports high-speed communication to 921.6K bps.
