Sealevel Systems Employees Give Back During ComPASSION Week

Sealevel Systems employees volunteered with six community organizations during the company’s annual ComPASSION Week in early October, continuing a tradition of giving back to the community as the Liberty-based manufacturer celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Eight employee teams volunteered with United Christian Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, the Julie Valentine Center, Shine Kitchen, Harvest Hope Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.
“This community has supported Sealevel for 40 years, and we believe we have a responsibility to support it in return,” said Sealevel President Susan O’Hanlan. “ComPASSION Week gives our employees time to work alongside local organizations and better understand the needs of our neighbors.”
At United Christian Ministries, employees unloaded pallets of boxed food, stocked shelves and organized canned goods by expiration date. Brad Caron, Sealevel’s facilities manager, said the experience helped his team learn how the organization provides food for individuals and families.
“It's important to help your neighbors and community when they need it. Sealevel has a record of doing that,” Caron said. “ComPASSION Week is one example of how the company generously gives back.”

Another team assembled 30 gift bags for children and teens served by the Julie Valentine Center.
Lindsay White, a digital marketing coordinator for Sealevel, said the team learned that the center needs more gift bags as more young people come forward for help. That insight gave employees a better understanding of how their contributions could support the center’s work.
“Giving back is something we put into practice, with employees working together to support local organizations and meet real needs,” White said. “I’m proud to work for a company that makes time for service and gives us opportunities to contribute to the community we call home.”

Steve Poston, Sealevel’s systems administrator, said his team’s experience with Habitat for Humanity helped employees learn how prospective homeowners take part in building their own homes. Multiple homes in the area have either been completed or are under construction. To assist with that, the Sealevel team moved building materials from a house into a trailer for delivery to another site.
“The O’Hanlans are very philanthropic, and they pass that along to their employees,” Poston said of Susan and Tom O’Hanlan, who launched the company after designing the first-of-its-kind RS-422/485 communication adapter for early IBM PCs.
Sealevel Celebrates 40 Years of Community Commitment
ComPASSION Week reflects the community commitment highlighted in Sealevel’s Forty & Forward anniversary campaign. Launched earlier this year, the campaign celebrates the people, products and partnerships that have shaped the company since its founding in 1986.
With a strong dedication to its employees and community, Sealevel encourages and rewards employees who participate in local causes, volunteer drives and fundraisers.
“Local organizations are helping others every day, so we’re glad to lend our support and are especially proud of our employees for their willingness to contribute,” Susan O’Hanlan said.
